The theme this week for the Grand Opening at Layers of Color is to Create Something That Opens as part of your artwork.

Wednesday Stamper....Altered Playing Card

This week Wednesday Stampers challenge is to alter playing cards...I chose to color, add an overlay and mount it on a base card.

G.L.A.S.S. RALLY- Berrian Springs, Michigan

This past week my husband and I attended our first Great Lakes Area Spring Spree Rally (G.L.A.S.S.) sponsored by Family Motor Coach Assoc. We attended with our local Winnebago Windy City Winnies Group (pictured above). The rally was held at Berrien County Youth Fair Grounds in Berrien Springs, Michigan.

Being our first rally we didn't know what to expect but we soon found out that seminars, crafts, entertainment, daily prizes, ice cream socials, meals, motorhome/suppliers exhibits, swaps and tours filled our days. Our club also had a Happy hour of wine tasting, a pot luck dinner, a breakfast and a celebration of our clubs anniversary.

Theme Thursday Challenge...Transportation

This past weeks challenge for Theme Thursday was Transportation.....being a Harley owner, my stamped image show one of my family means of transportation.

Think Monday ATC----WOMEN IN ART

Judith Leyster(1609-1660)
Leyster was extremely successful in her day as a portrait and genre specialist. Little is known about her early training but she was mentioned in about about Haarlem as being a local artist. In her early twenties she became the only female member of the Haarlem painters' guild and soon had students of her own. Even though her work is closely identified with that of Hals, their relationship remains unclear. What is known is that she successfully sued Hals for a breach of ethics after he took on one of her students........

Simply use a transparency, acetate, vellum, somewhere on your creation is this weeks challenge at Mixed Media Monday. I did two tags made out of acrylic that will overlap each other and be tied with ribbons.

Published...... Catch Up Issue of Stampers' Sampler

It's always so exciting to find a complimentary issue of a magazine in one's mail box for then you know you've been published. So frantically I scan the magazine looking for my work and so often I have to go over it a few times to find my card, due to the fact that they hold a card for several months generally. I occasionally send in work when I see a call for a card that challenges me outside my comfort zone or a subject matter that I enjoy doing. Here are two of those cards:


The top card was a call for cards with a book marker. I chose to use all justjohanna stamps to create this card that sends a message of chirpy cheers....card reads: sending you some chirpy cheer, and the book marker reads: get well soon and chrip, chrip, chrip.
The next card was a call for a celebration....so Happy Anniversary was my card theme. The cards can be fond on pg 89 and 120 in the Catch Up Issue or Stampers' Sampler.
