I just returned from our Illinois Indians Winnebago-Itasca State Club Rally....It was held at the Iroquois County Fairgrounds.
The weekend included several tours to different local area sites . I attended a tour to Pontiac in which we walked through their historic downtown, Old city Hall and Firehouse, Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum, Livingston County War Museum, historic courthouse, and finally "All Aboard" their Jolly Trolley for a ride to visit historic homes, and their many parks . We also had lunch at the Old Log Cabin, built in 1926.
Back at the fairgrounds they offered a number of activities we could do. I attended a jewelry making craft session and made earrings and a bracelet. I also played Bean Bag Baseball and was on the team that won 1st. place. There was a craft contests, a flea market, craft sales, silent auctions, 50/50 raffles, and a money hat to win.
The theme for the weekend was the 50's, so many dressed up in poodle skirts, turned up collars, scarfs and saddle shoes. The event ended with root beer floats and ice cream sundaes.
The weather's perfect so we are off to enjoy a weekend in Utica, Illinois with our fellow Windy City Winnies, WIT group. (Winnebago RV's Club) There we have plans to take a trolley ride to the historic town, visit the Starved Rock area, take a boat tour plus enjoy a potluck dinner with our group. We will also attend a play called "Exit Who?" We will then leave Utica to attend a State Rally in Crescent, Illinois. Never attending an Illinois State Rally I am so looking forward to this trip, for I've heard they are filled with fun days. So to my kids I leave behind and pets....you could have come!!!
My favorite online magazine is Ready, Set, Create for each issue offers you an abundance of inspiration to get one's creative juices flowing. Above are two cards I recently had published in the magazine and both cards feature justjohanna ODD BIRD PLANET stamps. The sentiment in the second card is Whipper Snapper.
Artist was my son Jerry Slowik and here are some photo's from a reception held yesterday at Governors State University in the Visual Arts Gallery. The exhibit was called "The Unhuman Element". (click on photo for larger picture )
This gift set of note cards was published in Ready, Set, Create on line magazine........I have been giving these sets as gifts lately to friends and family. I change the theme of the cards to fit the occasion and they have been well received. The cards in this set just has patterned paper over card stock, at times I'll just stamp a simple design to the front of the card, or a simple sentiment, the idea's are endless on what you can do. Package them up by putting them in a clear envelope and making a topper or tying a ribbon around the set, with a small tag attached.
