Apple Slices On the Menu Tonight

Roll out the dough


Finish product / Frosted

Recipe for Apple Slices
Peel & Core apples into eights 4lbs (1#=3 whole or 3 1/2 cups sliced)
Cook to boil 1 cup water, 1 1/4 cup sugar, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. salt
Mix together 2 T cornstarch with 1/3 cup water
Add to sugar mixture, cook 5 minutes longer
Add apples & cook 10 min. (until apples are soft)
Sift 2 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt
Cut in 3/4 cup of lard till coarse crumbs
Mix 1 tsp lemon juice, 2 egg yolks, 1/2 cup water
Then sprinkle that over flour mixture and mix
Chill dough several hours
Divide dough in 1/2 roll out into a 8 x 11 pan
Put cooled apples in pan, then roll out the second half of dough
Seal edges all around
Bake at 450 for 20 min. reduce heat to 350 for 30 min. more
Take power sugar and mix it with water (thin consistency) and drizzle
over the slices.
