Trip to Clear Lake and Forest City, Iowa

This is the Memorial that sits in front of the Surf Ballroom in memory of Rock 'N Roll legends  Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J. D. Richardson.  Hubby and I are standing in the room were all the acts stay before they performed at the Surf.  The Surf is located in Clear Lake, Iowa.

Next are a few pictures from the Winnebago 50th Birthday Bash, we attended in Forest City, Iowa. The town really welcomed us, for over 1300 motor homes arrived for the festivities. All the states except for Hawaii was present.  Our Canadian neighbors also came and took part in the rally.
The town held their annual parade  called the Puckerbush Parade and Winnebago was represented in it.  They also held the biggest bbq I ever seen, 700 chickens cooked while we all enjoyed the parade.
Back at the campgrounds, entertainment was provided by New Odyssey, Bobby Vee and Jason D. Williams , only to name a few.  There was seminars, tours, and site seeing events to attend.
A host of parties took place on the grounds, and an award was given for the best decorated State Roll and Illinois won it.  Each state  hosted a sample of either food or drink for the campers to try.  Illinois offered cake and ice cream, Arizona had Margaritas, Florida had Fried Chicken and Texas had chili dogs and chili as example.  No one went back to their campers hungry.

Whoa, that's a lot of chicken, huh! I'm pretty sure you enjoyed your stay there. Good thing that you are open to going outdoors and attending parades and festivals like those. Seriously, these things leave a memorable mark in our lives. So have more road trips and festivals in the future! :)
