Summer Rule

I came home to find a package in my mailbox from Danni Reid a designer from Cupcardstogo. As I wrote her I'm not sure what I did to earn this bag of embellishments but I'm sure having fun playing with everything enclosed in the package. Below is my first card I made using the embellishments. Thank you Danni.

Birthday Card and Gift Idea....

Not knowing what to purchase as a birthday gift the other day this is what I came up with. Two tickets to a theatre for my cousin and his wife. I made a card to go along with the tickets and decorated the envelope to

cause a little intrigue. (Sorry about the poor photo) Everyone needs a night out and with all the great movies out I'm sure they will find one that will spark their interest.

Cat-titude and Cold Cucumber Soup

Having an abundance of cucumbers in my garden I started to search for a recipe to use them up. I found one that fit the bill for it uses 6 pounds of cucumbers. However it also hosted a several other ingredients as peppers, green onions, jalapeno peppers, cilantro, mint, dill, garlic, cayenne pepper, Bayou Blast seasoning, plain yogurt, sour cream, olive oil and white wine vinegar. After mixing all the ingredients just put into a blender. (note: I used a food processor for just yesterday I gave my blender away saying I rarely use it and my daughter-in-law broke hers and needed one to make the boys their drinks.)

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Serve the soup with each bowl garnished with a dollop of sour cream and chives. Results: Great taste, and refreshing on a hot summer day.

Fresh Strawberry Pie

Each year I wait for "strawberry time" to make one of my favorite desserts. I would love to share my recipe with you and hope it becomes one of your family favorites.

Fresh Strawberry Pie :

Bottom Layer:

2 cups sliced straberries

1 pastry shell, baked and cooled

Middle Layer:

2 cups halved fresh strawberries, mashed

1 cup sugar

3 tablespoons cornstarch

Top Layer:

2 cups halved fresh strawberries

1 cup whipping cream

2 tablespoons sugar

For bottom layer, placed sliced strawberries in the pie shell.

Middle layer, combine mashed strawberries, sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until mixture is thick and clear. Cool and Pour over bottom layer.

Top Layer: arrange strawberry halves on top of the pie. Add whip cream. ( I generally spread the whip cream all over the top)

Playing with INKs

Last night I played with a new ink pad I recently purchased. The pad is made by Marvv and its from their signature series called Dee Gruenig Blending Blox (Shades of Green). I also used a stamp by Posh ( 3 Dotted Squares) and one by The Rubbernecker (Butterfly). The card stock is by Stamp A Mania (White Glossy).
